THE LOST TOOLS OF LEARNING--by Dorothy L Sayers
The original classic!  Originally presented in at Oxford in 1947, this is the essay that 'started it all', and is quoted in most Classical Education materials today.  An excellent read--if you're considering a Classical Education, this is the one to have!

A Home Schoolers Guide to a Classical Education , By Andrew Campbell.
